Welcome

imageFirst and foremost, thank you for stopping by ArizonaKungFu.com. We specialize in teaching the Chinese fighting art of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Wing Chun, also written as Ving Tsun, is a Chinese martial art that specializes in efficient close-range combat. Wing Chun is typically taught in three empty-hand forms; Siu Lim Tao (Little Idea), Chum Kiu (Bridge Seeking) and Biu Gee (Thrusting Fingers).

Advanced students will also learn the Wing Chun Mook Yan Jong form (Wooden Dummy) as well as the Luk Dim Boom Kwan (6 1/2 Point Pole) and Baat Cham Dao (8 Cutting Broadswords). Below is a brief description of the 3 empty-hand forms.

Siu Lim Tao

Siu Lim Tao has been described as the foundation, the cornerstone, the base, etc. We like to call it the entirety. Everything in Wing Chun begins with Siu Lim Tao. I'll compare Siu Lim Tao to the alphabet; an alphabet of many more than 26 letters. Through learning Siu Lim Tao you will learn everything you need to write the Wing Chun language.

Chum Kiu

Chum Kiu has been described as the skill in Wing Chun. Going back to our writing analogy; Chum Kiu takes the 'letters (techniques) from Siu Lim Tao and teaches you to combine them into a free-flowing art, or 'words and sentences'. It is at the Chum Kiu level that students become proficient in performing the infamous Chi Sau (sticky hands) of Wing Chun.

Biu Gee

Biu Gee has often been described as the power of Wing Chun. Biu Gee adds punctuation, depth and meaning to your new formed sentence from Siu Lim Tao and Chum Kiu. Many people have heard that 'Biu Gee does not leave the school...' etc. This is taken to mean that it is a secretive form; however, a student who states this is mistaken. Grandmaster Ip Man rarely had a student who was good enough to complete Biu Gee and therefore, Biu Gee earned this reputation.

At our school we have no secrets.  We are simply here to promote the preservation of Traditional Ip Man/Ip Family Wing Chun.  For more information about our school, please browse the remainder of this site.
